Solar Light Circuitry

Solar lights are very popular these days as the technology has improved to the point that they are as good as any lights. Solar light circuitry is also fairly basic.

Solar Light Circuitry

An electric circuit is a closed system that contains resistors, capacitors and other components. Electricity generated or stored by a power source, such as a solar cell, runs through the circuit and is used to perform a function. Because the system is closed, there is a return path for the electricity. The circuit may be opened and closed by devices such as switches and fuses, allowing the process to stop such as when a light is turned on and off.

The term "circuitry" refers to collections of analog or digital circuits that are configured to perform a specific task. By comparison, a digital microcontroller that may be programmed to perform any variety of tasks is not considered to be circuitry.

An electronic circuit is a system that also includes active electronic devices like transistors. There are two traditional kinds of electronic circuits: analog and digital. In analog circuits, the electric signals continuously vary according to the information being represented. They are used in equipment like amplifiers and tuning devices. The primary elements of analog circuits are either passive, such as resistors and capacitors, or active such as power sources. A digital circuit uses electronic signals. These signals stand for pieces of information that need to be processed. There are many types of electronic equipment which use digital circuits such as watches with a digital display, calculators and microprocessors.

Circuits can be classified as either series or parallel. In a series circuit, the elements are attached end to end, so that one stream of electricity runs through the whole circuit. The effective resistance of this kind of circuit is equal to the sum of the separate resistances of each element, and the current is the same in each component. If the components are connected in parallel, each component gets the same voltage across its terminals, so the current is divided between the parts of the circuit. In this case, the total resistance is less than that of the least resistant element, and the total current is the sum of the current running through each branch.

A solar engine is a circuit that uses solar power to drive a motor, a coil or another circuit. A simple solar engine will have a solar cell that charges a capacitor, causing the voltage to rise. When the voltage gets to a certain point, the voltage detector will turn a pin, creating the work. The current flows through the motor and turns it. Eventually, the voltage reaches a predetermined minimal level and the process is repeated.
